We all know a pickup line or two for hitting on someone. But I bet you don’t know many for potential new friends (maybe for good reason tbh). Here are a few:
- Are you a parking ticket? 'Cause I could give you a ride home if your car got towed or something."
- "Hey, are you single? Because I've been told I am the best wingman."
- "You breathe oxygen, too? Wow, we have so much in common."
- "Feel my shirt... it's made of best friend material."
- “Hold up…Are you a college professor? Cause I've got a feeling I'm gonna occasionally talk to my other friends about how annoying you are.'"
- "Hey, I just realized this, but you look a lot like my next best friend."
- I’d say ‘God bless you’ but it looks like He already did with me, your new best friend.
- I’m sorry, were you talking to me? Well, would you like to?
- Hey, I just realized this, but you look a lot like my next best friend.
Limited research has been done to prove they work, but we will laugh if you try them out. Not only that, we will applaud you. We need more people intentionally going out, and starting fun conversations.
Gone are the days of seating charts and forced class projects where we start to make friends. Today's friendships are all about intentionality. So whether it is with a fun and cringey pickup line, or a slightly more normal conversation starter, let's spark some new friendships.
